From SEO Best Practice

A curated list of linkbuilding sites. These are sites that

  1. I see actually work as they are appear in backlink analysis
  2. have BOTH a decent google page rank and a decent seomoz domain authority

Kept up to date on a daily basis as linkbuilding is done. Feel free to bookmark if you find it useful. The single number next to each url is the page rank of the homepage for comparison.

Manual linkbuilding is tough but sometimes its the solution when you have little time, money or resources.

The use of PR sites for linkbuilding is comlpetely different to the work a PR agency does. If you use the documents below, it doesn't mean you don't need traditional PR contacts to sell your stories in to journalists and papers

From requests from my seomoz post on linkbuilding, I am collecting email linkbuilding templates

Great Note on how to use PRweb effectively from Alan Bleiweiss on a SEOmoz post: At the same time however, if you opt for the wider distribution options (such as PRWeb's top two options) you're more likely to get at least some decent sites in the mix (and especially if you go with the top tier release option). This is much more valid if the releases you create only contain one or a couple links in the content. And don't opt to include your web site embedded in their iFrame. It's a terrible usability issue, and offers NO value - and most definitely will not be picked up by high end news feeds.

The other SEO value comes from the fact that those quality sites that do pick them up and post them do provide not just link value but mentions related to branding.

Also be sure to take the time to properly categorize the release in terms of the right industry and regional reach.

I don't tend to use more than 1 paid site as you often end up paying for duplicate access. My goal with paid PR is to get PR into Googlenews, Yahoo news etc, so make sure any agency you use has those links in place

Search Link operators for linkbuilding

&tbs=prfl:e append to any search to find bloggers in that area. You can search Google's public user profiles with search query strings like this http://www.google.com/search?q=travel+blogger&tbs=prfl:e or by appending &tbs=prfl:e onto any search URL.

I love inurl searches, especially wikis. inurl:wiki cars -wikipedia gives me all the wikis that have car topics, excluding wikipedia

Competition websites

None are automated live, all go through reviews by site owners. Most ask for a reciprocal link. Recipricol links for competition sites - just give them the links, the main aim is traffic. You can also remove the links once the competition is over and they are unlikely to remove theirs
